{"id":4181,"date":"2018-06-04T11:45:11","date_gmt":"2018-06-04T01:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.decyp.tas.gov.au\/?page_id=4181"},"modified":"2023-09-20T13:58:29","modified_gmt":"2023-09-20T03:58:29","slug":"volunteers-and-visitors","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/ja\/for-families\/support-your-childs-learning\/volunteers-and-visitors\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteers and visitors in schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Volunteers and visitors are welcomed into the school environment as valued school members and role models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This includes parents and carers, and friends of the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is also important that schools manage and supervise volunteers and visitors at the school and school activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schools need to have a way of identifying volunteers or visitors, which may include visitors having specific areas\/times for visiting and sign-in processes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schools are required to ensure that volunteers have the appropriate approvals to work with children, such as a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"do-i-need-a-registration-to-work-with-vulnerable-people-rwvp\">Do I need a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP)?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All Department for Education, Children and Young People employees, volunteers (including the School Association Committee), contractors and external providers are required to maintain a current Tasmanian RWVP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will need proof of a current Tasmanian RWVP to be a volunteer at your child\u2019s school or school activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are simply visiting your child\u2019s school (i.e. are invited to attend particular school events or activities at your child\u2019s school) you will not require a RWVP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You do NOT require a RWVP to:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Drop off or collect your child, including a short period of settling your child in class where the teacher is present.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend school events such as assemblies, school sports carnivals, plays and concerts, whole-school events (where you are not a direct participant and\/or do not assist in the organisation or operation of the event).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend school activities for parents or public events such as a parent information evening, parent\/teacher meetings, school fairs, opening of new school facilities or programs, or to hear a guest speaker (where you do not assist in the organisation or operation of the activity).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-do-i-apply-for-a-registration-to-work-with-vulnerable-people-rwvp\">How do I apply for a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP)?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Tasmanian Department of Justice administers the RWVP process and applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It may take up to six weeks for an RWVP to be issued and the application cost is paid by the applicant, not the school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More information is available at the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbos.tas.gov.au\/topics\/licensing-and-registration\/registrations\/work-with-vulnerable-people\">Consumer, Building and Occupational Services website<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-do-we-work-together-for-a-safe-school\">How do we work together for a safe school?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>While on school grounds or at a school activity, everyone has the right to be safe and be treated fairly and respectfully.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers and visitors are expected to behave in away that supports a safe school environment, in line with the school\u2019s policy for volunteers and visitors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This means that everyone at our school agrees:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We behave in a safe and respectful manner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We use constructive and appropriate language<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We treat school property with respect<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We work together to support learning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We cooperate with staff instructions and school procedures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We drive slowly and carefully on school campus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We behave in line with our school\u2019s behaviour policy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If unacceptable behaviour is displayed on school grounds or at a school activity the principal (or their delegate) may ask you to leave.
