Up to 3,000 students from 56 public high schools are set to take part over four years.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The program has $800,000 in funding from the Youth Jobs Strategy, linking students with local tradespeople and employers, teaches hands-on skills, and shows them paths to Vocational Education and Training (VET) and apprenticeships.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"block-emphasis\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"key-information\">Key information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Currently running in 9 Tasmanian Government secondary schools, expanding to over 24 schools in 2027, with a four-year target of 56 schools statewide&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designed for students in Years 9 and 10&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Led by the Housing Industry Association (HIA)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up to 3,000 students to participate over four years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No cost to schools &#8211; no trade experience or special equipment needed&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any qualified teacher can deliver the Trade Foundations Curriculum <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aligned with the updated Australian Curriculum (Version 9)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"why-youthbuild-matters\">Why youthBuild matters&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tasmania\u2019s construction industry is growing and so is the need for skilled tradespeople and professionals.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">youthBuild will give students real experience in the sector, helping them to develop their skills, confidence, and career awareness. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students are supported to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Discover career pathways in the building and construction industry&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn technical and practical skills in a real-world setting&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand what employers look for in their workers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discover VET and apprenticeship pathways&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-teachers-are-saying\">What teachers are saying<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne hat doesn\u2019t fit all\u2026 teaching them about things that they have a real interest in<br>helps in so many areas.\u201d \u2014 Damien Pursell, Burnie High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur kids, they learn so much better when it is real life.\u201d \u2014 Danica Nielsen, Rosebery High<br>School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s been very rewarding to see them flourish in that sort of environment\u2026 it\u2019s a great<br>way to show kids that they can engage within school regardless of their academic<br>performance.\u201d \u2014 Monique Johnson, Latrobe High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teachers don\u2019t need a trade background to deliver Trade Foundations. The curriculum<br>is designed to be usable by any qualified teacher, with full resources and support provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-students-can-expect\">What students can expect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hands-on Construction Modules<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; school-based lessons teaching technical and practical construction skills. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Engagement with Industry Experts<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; local tradespeople and professionals visit schools to run workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Workplace and Site Visits<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; students see real building sites and businesses in action and meet professionals on the job. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pathway Awareness Activities<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; students learn about VET and apprenticeships, and how to progress into further learning or employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A Buildfolio<\/strong> &#8211; students compile evidence of their learning, skills and readiness for future VET or apprenticeship pathways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"for-parents\">For parents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">youthBuild runs at no cost to your child\u2019s school and requires no special equipment.
