AEDC \u2013 What is it?<\/h2>

The Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) is a national collection of information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This measures how children are developing in their first year of full-time school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2021 AEDC is the fifth national collection since 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next collection will be in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teachers in Tasmania completed comprehensive questionnaires for more than 6,400 Prep students across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AEDC assesses children as being developmentally \u2018on track\u2019, \u2018at risk\u2019 or \u2018vulnerable\u2019 across five key developmental domains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • physical health and wellbeing<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • social competence<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • emotional maturity<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • language and cognitive skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • communication skills and general knowledge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
