Each primary and district school has an intake area. If your child lives in the intake area for that school, it is their local school. You can check your local primary or district school using the <a href=\"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/ko\/learning\/find-your-local-school\/intake-areas-tasmanian-government-schools\/\">intake area map<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"high-schools\">High schools<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your child is in high school, their local high school depends on the primary school they attended when they finished Year 6. Each primary school has one or two \u201cintake high schools&#8221;. When your child finishes primary school, they are guaranteed a place at the intake high school\/s that has been allocated for their primary school. You can check your local high school on the <a href=\"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/ko\/learning\/find-your-local-school\/find-your-local-high-school\/\">Find your local high school page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-282071\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">What is a school intake area?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-282071\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>An intake area is a mapped area that is used to work out which school is the local or \u2018in-area\u2019 school for students in primary school. All Tasmanian government primary and district schools have intake areas. You can find your local school primary or district school on the <a href=\"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/ko\/learning\/find-your-local-school\/intake-areas-tasmanian-government-schools\/\">intake area map<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-282072\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">How are intake areas determined?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-282072\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Current school intake areas were implemented in 2021 as an outcome of the last Intake Area Review.&nbsp;During the last Intake Area Review, the following factors were considered when determining intake areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"highest-priority\">Highest priority<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Schools have capacity to accommodate local enrolments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"high-priority\">High priority<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>School viability is protected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid splitting the community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alignment with bus routes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facilitate walking to school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid travel through other school intake areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"moderate-priority\">Moderate priority<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Zone students to closest government school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Align with parents\u2019 travel direction to work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Intake Area Reviews happen at least every five years, in line with the <em>Education Act 2016<\/em>. The next Intake Area Review is scheduled to commence in 2024\/2025<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-282073\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">What is a feeder school model?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-282073\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Tasmanian government high schools (7-12) do not have geographic intake areas. Can I enrol my child at that school for Kinder?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-2820710\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>You can apply to enrol at the school via an application for out-of-area enrolment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The school may accept your child if the school has capacity. This ensures a consistent, fair, open and clear approach to assess out-of-area enrolment requests.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After you submit your Expression of Interest form, you will receive a letter of outcome from the school.
