The State Government has announced that Safeguarding Officers will be appointed in every Tasmanian Government school.<\/p>\n

This is to help protect all children and young people in our care.<\/p>\n

A Reference Group of school leaders has begun the planning for this work.<\/p>\n

All children and young people have the right to an education, to be heard, and to be kept safe from harm.<\/p>\n

Our schools must meet their safeguarding responsibilities under the National Child Safe Standards.<\/p>\n

Safeguarding Officers will play an important role in this, spreading the message that Safeguarding is everyone\u2019s responsibility.<\/p>\n

They will also work with schools to help ensure that children are at the centre of decisions that affect them.<\/p>\n

We are consulting with people in schools, including children and young people, to ensure these roles provide them with the support they need.<\/p>\n
