It supports our students to become competent swimmers and be water safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program has a strong emphasis on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>water safety, including boat safety<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>using personal floatation devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>survival swimming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>reach to rescue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>entering aquatic environments safely<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>efficient stroke development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>building swimming stamina.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These skills build the foundation for safe participation in aquatic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"australian-curriculum\">Australian Curriculum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The swimming program supports the Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education Strands of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Personal, social and community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Movement and physical activity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In particular, the focus areas of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Safety<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health benefits of physical activity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fundamental motor skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lifelong physical activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"ratio ratio-16x9\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DECYP Swimming &amp; Water Safety Program\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1EZpiKiZsW8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our program runs for two weeks each year for all year 3, 4 and 5 students in Tasmanian Government Schools The Department for Education, Children and Young People provides a Swimming and Water Safety Program for: This three-year program consists of ten consecutive lessons each year.
