{"id":30080,"date":"2023-08-03T14:40:50","date_gmt":"2023-08-03T04:40:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/wellbeing\/swes-questions-for-our-community\/"},"modified":"2023-09-21T15:15:35","modified_gmt":"2023-09-21T05:15:35","slug":"swes-questions-for-our-community","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/ms\/wellbeing\/student-wellbeing-and-engagement-survey\/swes-questions-for-our-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey answers for our community"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"block-emphasis\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"our-definition-of-child-and-student-wellbeing\">Our definition of <em>child and student wellbeing<\/em>:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A state where learners feel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>loved, safe and valued<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have access to material basics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have their physical, mental and emotional needs met<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>are learning and participating<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have a positive sense of culture and identity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-300800\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">What does the department do to support child and student wellbeing?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-300800\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>The department\u2019s <em>Child and Student Wellbeing Strategy <\/em>underpins our current and future efforts to keep children and young people safe, well and engaged in learning, across all of our learning environments and adopts the six ARACY wellbeing domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Strategy commits to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>improved child and student wellbeing in the voice of the learner, linked to improved learning outcomes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a common understanding of the impact of wellbeing on learning and a shared purpose for improving wellbeing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>valid and reliable data to measure improvement in child and student wellbeing to inform future effort and planning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>stronger and more consistent alignment of agency effort to improve child and student wellbeing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>resource allocation and support informed by wellbeing evidence and data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-300801\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">What is the department\u2019s Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-300801\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>The <em>Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey<\/em> (SWES) is an annual survey completed by students in all eligible Tasmanian government schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Introduced in 2018, the Survey is now embedded as an annual opportunity to understand student wellbeing across Tasmania. At a system level, this data is routinely informing new and existing initiatives, while schools are being supported to understand their data and use it to inform their priorities, with school staff accessing professional learning opportunities and resources to understand the state-wide data and share learnings.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-300802\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Why does the department capture measures of child and student wellbeing?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-300802\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>DECYP recognises the impact of wellbeing on educational attainment and the subsequent connection to life outcomes for young Tasmanians. A strong sense of wellbeing enables students to explore, experiment and actively engage in their learning environment with confidence and optimism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to implementing the SWES, the department had limited robust, coordinated, and consistent data on learner wellbeing to inform planning and effort.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-300803\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Where can I find the results of the SWES?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-300803\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Reports and infographics are available in our annual data section for <a href=\"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/ms\/about-us\/policies-legislation-data\/data-and-statistics\/student-wellbeing-school-satisfaction-data\/\">student wellbeing and school satisfaction<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-300804\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">How does the department safeguard students\u2019 personal information and anonymity when participating in the SWES?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-300804\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>We take measures to guarantee that students\u2019 personal information and their identities remain anonymous when participating in the survey. In line with this commitment, data is not reported for groups of less than five students to protect their confidentiality.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-300805\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">How can researchers find out more about accessing and using the department\u2019s SWES data?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-300805\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Data, Systems and Insights (DSI) coordinates all applications to conduct research in government schools in Tasmania, how to access publicly available education data, and how to apply for access to non-publicly available data held by the department.
