They must comply with State legislation,&nbsp;policies, child safety requirements, and meet qualification requirements.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your school may have a Chaplain or Student Wellbeing Officer, and your child\u2019s participation in related Programs is voluntary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Chaplain is an individual who:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>is recognised by the school community as having the skills and experience to deliver school chaplaincy to the school community; and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is endorsed by a recognised or accepted religious institution; and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>meets the NSWP\u2019s qualification requirements.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Student Wellbeing Officer is an individual who:<\/strong><strong><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>is recognised by the school community as having the skills and experience to deliver student wellbeing services; and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>meets the NSWP\u2019s qualification requirements.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All Chaplains and Student Wellbeing Officers must have Working with Vulnerable People Registration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some of the things Chaplains <\/strong><strong>and Student Wellbeing Officers <\/strong><strong>do include:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>work as a member of the School Support and Wellbeing Team in the delivery of student wellbeing services&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>provide referrals for students, or sourcing appropriate services to meet their needs&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>support to improve student engagement and connectedness&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>help to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>help with breakfast clubs and school activities such as sport, camps and gardens&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Chaplains\/Student Wellbeing Officers are not allowed to talk to students about religion, unless the student wants them to.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-95261\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Student participation in Chaplaincy\/Student Wellbeing services<\/h2><div id=\"ac-95261\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your school must provide the school community with regular overviews of any Chaplaincy\/Student Wellbeing related services or activities.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For one-on-one interactions outside of a group setting between a Chaplain\/Student Wellbeing Officer and your child, parental consent is required.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you do not want your child to participate in NSWP activities, you must contact the school Principal.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-95262\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">What else do you need to know about School Chaplains?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-95262\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Chaplains\/Student Wellbeing Officers are employed through an external panel of Providers.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Education in government schools is required by law to be secular. Chaplains\/Student Wellbeing Officers\u00a0working in a Tasmanian government school must not conduct religious services or ceremonies or lead students or staff in religious observances unless agreed to by the Principal.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\"
