{"id":9761,"date":"2019-08-28T12:35:19","date_gmt":"2019-08-28T02:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.decyp.tas.gov.au\/?page_id=9761"},"modified":"2023-09-20T12:07:54","modified_gmt":"2023-09-20T02:07:54","slug":"teachers-registration-act","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/th\/about-us\/policies-legislation-data\/legislation\/teachers-registration-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Teachers Registration Amendment Bill 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>Teachers\nRegistration Amendment Bill 2019<\/em> amends the <em>Teachers Registration Act 2000<\/em>&nbsp;\nto:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>provide the Teachers Registration Board (TRB) with the ability to\nsuspend or cancel a teacher\u2019s registration if that person no longer holds\nregistration to work with vulnerable people under the <em>Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013<\/em> without the\nneed to conduct a time consuming and resource intensive disciplinary process;\nand<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>allow the TRB to participate in a range of data sharing initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The final Bill has been tabled and is now available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parliament.tas.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Parliament of Tasmania<\/a> Website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"consultation-and-publication-of-submissions\"><strong>Consultation and publication of submissions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Public consultation on a draft Bill\ncommenced on 9 September 2019 and concluded on 22 September 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consultation process was undertaken\nby the Department for Education, Children and Young People and was subject to the Government\u2019s \u2018Publication\nof Submissions Received by Tasmanian Government Departments in Response to\nConsultation on Major Policy Issues\u2019 policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further details on the policy and a link to the full document are available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dpac.tas.gov.au\/divisions\/People_Performance_and_Governance\/Executive_Services\/public_submissions_policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Premier and Cabinet website<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We received five submissions that are required to be published in accordance with the policy.
