{"id":12537,"date":"2020-03-25T12:38:01","date_gmt":"2020-03-25T01:38:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.decyp.tas.gov.au\/?page_id=12537"},"modified":"2023-09-21T13:55:57","modified_gmt":"2023-09-21T03:55:57","slug":"novel-coronavirus-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/vi\/wellbeing\/health-and-physical-care\/novel-coronavirus-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 information and measures at our sites"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"block-emphasis\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"key-information\">Key information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/documentcentre.education.tas.gov.au\/_layouts\/15\/DocIdRedir.aspx?ID=TASED-1144598975-384\">COVID-safe schools plan 2023\u00a0(PDF, 188KB)<\/a>\u00a0sets out how we\u2019ll continue to safely manage COVID-19 in schools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Key measures are outlined below.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This plan follows Public Health advice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While this plan focuses on schools, the practical advice applies to our other sites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"covid-safe-behaviours\">COVID-safe behaviours<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hygiene\">Hygiene<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do not come to school if unwell \u2013 this applies to staff, students and visitors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff, students and visitors are asked to follow COVID-safe behaviours, particularly as they apply to their personal circumstances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep your hands clean by using soap and water or hand sanitiser.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"face-masks\">Face masks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All students, staff and visitors are supported to wear masks should they choose to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consider wearing a face mask indoors where you cannot physically distance from others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"testing\">Testing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you feel unwell, then test.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rapid antigen tests (RATs) are available in schools for students and staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep a supply of RATs in your home in case you become unwell.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"vaccination\">Vaccination<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccines helps protect you from severe illness due to COVID-19.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff, students and visitors are encouraged to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and influenza (the flu).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"safe-sites\">Safe sites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"supporting-covid-safe-behaviours\">Supporting COVID-safe behaviours<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hand sanitiser is available at all sites.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Face masks are readily available on site for anyone to use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ventilation\">Ventilation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spaces are well-ventilated through natural airflow where possible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other mechanical equipment is also used to promote airflow and improve ventilation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schools will take advantage of outdoor learning opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cleaning\">Cleaning<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Frequent cleaning is undertaken, particularly on high-touch surfaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"family-engagement\">Family engagement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Families and volunteers are welcome in schools for indoor and outdoor activities and events, as long as they:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>do not have symptoms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>practise COVID-safe behaviours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>follow any school advice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Events and activities include:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>parent-teacher meetings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Launching into Learning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>school assemblies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>musical and drama productions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>prize evenings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>attending sporting events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schools may need to implement additional risk mitigations for events and activities to minimise the risk of COVID-19, such as limiting the number of attendees or requiring physical distancing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When COVID-19 cases in a class increase more than expected, families will be communicated with. This is important to help support vulnerable family members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"school-activities\">School activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All school activities can occur as long as the risks associated with COVID-19 are managed. This includes:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>excursions (day and overnight)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>school camps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fairs and carnivals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>productions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>assemblies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>prize nights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Activities should encourage COVID-safe behaviours and factor in the COVID-19 risk in the community at that time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Depending on the level of risk of the activity or in the community, extra consideration may be needed to ensure:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>spaces are well-ventilated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>face masks are readily available<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>physical distancing is supported<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the numbers of participants are limited.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff can come together for staff meetings or professional development with COVID-safe measures in place to manage risks. Staff must practise COVID-safe behaviours. This includes not attending the workplace when experiencing symptoms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intrastate travel can go ahead with appropriate Department approval and a risk mitigation plan. This includes overnight excursions and camps.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"travel-for-school-groups\">Travel for school groups<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Interstate travel can go ahead with a comprehensive risk assessment and contingency plan in place.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International travel for school groups can recommence from Term 2, 2023. Overseas travel is subject to a robust risk assessment and contingency plan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Department approval is needed for interstate and international travel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Considerations for travelling must be revised before departure. This ensures the risk assessment is up to date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"vulnerable-students\">Vulnerable students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All Tasmanians have a role to protect the vulnerable. By following COVID-safe behaviours and staying home when unwell, you help protect vulnerable students from the impacts of COVID-19.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>School staff wear masks when working closely with students known to be medically vulnerable to COVID-19.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff do not provide direct support to students medically vulnerable to COVID-19 for at least seven days from testing positive to COVID-19.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"school-attendance-is-important\">School attendance is important&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Being at school is the best place for our kids.
