{"id":336,"date":"2017-05-19T10:11:36","date_gmt":"2017-05-19T00:11:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.decyp.tas.gov.au\/?page_id=336"},"modified":"2023-09-20T16:47:35","modified_gmt":"2023-09-20T06:47:35","slug":"years-11-12","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/vi\/for-children-and-young-people\/going-to-school\/years-11-12\/","title":{"rendered":"Going to years 11 and 12"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"years-11-and-12\">Years 11 and 12<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The vast majority of today\u2019s jobs require a Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) or higher qualification, and employers are looking for people who are flexible, adaptable and willing to learn new things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Completing Year 12 or attaining equivalent qualifications should be the aim for all students in Tasmanian government schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Years 11 and 12, you will have access to a wide range of courses including Vocational Education Training (VET) offered through a number of options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Colleges, high schools and district high schools offer a wide range of courses. In year 11 and 12 some courses are available online or through a shared enrolment with a nearby school. This means you will have additional access to courses of interest and some may require you to study at another campus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some courses are accessed through Trade Training Centre (TTC) facilities which are designed to provide practical training using industry-standard equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your chosen program of learning will be a combination of these available options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For details on where courses are available go to <a href=\"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/vi\/year-11-12-course-guide\/\">Year 11 and 12 Course Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teachers and other support staff in all secondary schools and colleges across the state will support your transition from Year 10 to Years 11 and 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"enrolling-in-years-11-and-12\">Enrolling in Years 11 and 12<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"year-10-students-in-tasmania-government-schools\">Year 10 students in Tasmania government schools<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are currently attending a Tasmanian government school, your Year 10 coordinator or teachers will give you details about how you can access the information you need to plan for and enrol in Year 11.&nbsp; Your school will make all the arrangements for your enrolment and you will have the opportunity to attend information and taster sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"current-year-11-students-in-tasmanian-government-schools\">Current Year 11 students in Tasmanian government schools<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will enrol through your current school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"other-students-including-non-government-school-students\">Other students, including non-government school students<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can enrol through a college or a school extending to Years 11 and 12 in your region.&nbsp; You should contact the college or school for details to arrange course counselling and enrolment. It provides information on the wide range of Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (TASC) and Vocational Education Training (VET) courses available in this year and the next two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"enrolling-in-vocational-education-training-vet-courses\">Enrolling in Vocational Education Training (VET) Courses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Entry to VET courses usually requires a \u201csuitability process\u201d. To be undertaken prior to completing enrolment to ensure that students commence their VET studies in the most appropriate course and at the right level for their learning needs.
