(Education Regulation) Act 2022<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former Education Minister (the Honourable Jeremy Rockliff MP) accepted all 24 recommendations made by the Review Education Regulation Steering Committee as outlined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicdocumentcentre.education.tas.gov.au\/library\/Shared%20Documents\/Review%20of%20Education%20Regulation%20-%20Steering%20Committee%20Report-December%202020.PDF\">Review of Education Regulation Steering Committee Report<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Tasmanian Government passed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.tas.gov.au\/view\/html\/asmade\/act-2022-009\"><em>Education Legislation Amendments (Education Regulation) Act 2022 (the Act)<\/em><\/a> on 24 March 2022 and received Royal Assent on 12 April 2022.&nbsp; The Act commenced on 1 July 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Act amended key pieces of legislation including the <em>Education Act 2016<\/em>, the<em> Teachers Registration Act 2000 <\/em>and the <em>Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification Act 2003<\/em>.&nbsp; It also made minor amendments to other pieces of subordinate legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Act made important amendments such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>broader application of the <em>Education Act 2016<\/em> principles to facilitate an approach to regulation that is centred around the learner and achievement of outcomes for learners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>providing for a performance framework for the regulators, including the development of outcome-based performance targets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>establishing skills-based boards for the Teachers Registration Board (TRB), the Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (TASC) Board and the Non-Government Schools Registration Board (NGSRB).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Act was developed following considerable consultation with relevant stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To view a copy of the Second Reading Speech, Clause Notes and Fact Sheet please visit the <a recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"consultation-report\">Consultation Report<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/documentcentre.education.tas.gov.au\/_layouts\/15\/DocIdRedir.aspx?ID=TASED-1087178304-4084\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Consultation Report (PDF, 688KB)<\/a> summarises stakeholder feedback and submissions in relation to the Draft Bill consultation process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"public-submissions\">Public Submissions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In accordance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dpac.tas.gov.au\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0034\/493585\/Tasmanian-Government-Public-Submissions-Policy.PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tasmanian Government Public Submissions Policy (PDF, 601KB)<\/a> submissions will be treated as public information and will be published on our website once consideration of submissions has concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
