{"id":31684,"date":"2023-08-21T09:18:29","date_gmt":"2023-08-20T23:18:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/safe-children\/keeping-children-safe\/guide-to-tasmanias-child-safety-service\/your-rights-as-a-child-or-young-person-in-care\/"},"modified":"2023-09-21T15:10:37","modified_gmt":"2023-09-21T05:10:37","slug":"your-rights-as-a-child-or-young-person-in-care","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/zh\/safe-children\/guide-to-tasmanias-child-safety-services\/your-rights-as-a-child-or-young-person-in-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Your rights as a child or young person in care"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"block-emphasis\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"key-information\">Key information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tasmanian children and young people have rights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children and young people are entitled to be loved, safe, healthy, learning, have the things they need, and to be connected to their culture and identity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can always tell someone what is important to you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-are-my-rights\">What are my rights?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A right is something you are automatically entitled to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a child or young person in care in Tasmania, your rights are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>be safe and feel safe<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>receive healthcare when you need it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be consulted and listened to seriously about decisions that affect you<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have regular meetings with your Child Safety Officer or Safety and Wellbeing Worker<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be treated fairly and with respect for who you are<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>identify with your culture and community and observe your chosen religion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have safe contact with your family and people who matter to you<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have an education and gain life skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have your privacy respected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For examples on what each right looks like, check out the<a href=\"https:\/\/publicdocumentcentre.education.tas.gov.au\/library\/Shared Documents\/Poster-Charter-of-Rights-Digital.pdf\"> Charter of rights for Tasmanian children and young people (PDF, 1026KB).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org.au\/united-nations-convention-on-the-rights-of-the-child\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">international agreement for child rights | unicef Australia<\/a> by the United Nations.
