These relationships nurture a supportive partnership and help establish shared responsibility for your child. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below you will find more information about some of the digital communication tools your school may use.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\"><h2 id=\"at-373230\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Social media<\/h2><div id=\"ac-373230\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n\n<p>Schools that do have social media use these platforms to promote events and celebrate the achievements of children and young people.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Your school may have a Facebook and\/or an Instagram account.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"block-emphasis\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"quick-tip-pages-profiles-and-accounts\">Quick tip: Pages, Profiles, and Accounts<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>A <strong>Facebook page<\/strong> is used by businesses, organisations, charities, schools, brands etc.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>A<strong> Facebook profile<\/strong> is for an individual person. \u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n<li>An <strong>Instagram account<\/strong> is for individuals as well as businesses, organisations, charities, schools, brands etc.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>If you have a Facebook profile or Instagram account, you can search for your child\u2019s school and follow them. An official Tasmanian Government school social media account will clearly state: \u201cThis page is run by the Department for Education, Children and Young People\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>If you are unsure which account to follow, check with your child\u2019s school.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Ways you might use Facebook or Instagram to communicate with your child\u2019s school: &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Liking a post is a positive way to show that you have seen and like the picture or information being shared. You can do this on Facebook by clicking on the \u201cthumbs up\u201d icon and on Instagram by clicking the \u201cheart\u201d icon. &nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Sharing a school post is a way to show other people what the school has posted. You can do this by clicking \u201cshare\u201d and choosing who you want to share the post with.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"block-emphasis\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"quick-tip-messaging-on-social-media\">Quick tip: Messaging on social media<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Sending a direct message on social media to your child\u2019s school is not recommended, especially if you need a quick response. This email address will be used for school email communications. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Speak to your child\u2019s school if you are not sure which email address they have on file or if you want to update it.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"do-you-need-to-create-your-own-email-address\">Do you need to create your own email address?\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>There are many options for creating your own email address. This helps the school make sure the right teachers get your email.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Some teachers may prefer you email them directly. Please check with your child\u2019s school to confirm what is preferred.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"your-childs-student-email-address\">Your child\u2019s student email address<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Your child is assigned a student email address when they enrol in a Tasmanian Government school. Each school decides the appropriate time to activate student email addresses for their students.
