This complements the results achieved through the Lifting Literacy initiative as well as the focus on numeracy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"teachers\">Teachers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More effective lesson planning and reduced administrative duties, freeing up more time for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>teaching,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting students with additional needs and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>professional development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"school-leaders\">School leaders<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reduced administrative burdens, enabling a greater focus on leadership, teaching and learning and community engagement. School leaders will also have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>increased professional development,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a broader peer network to collaborate with and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>increased access to mentoring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"parents\">Parents<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schools will be better supported to provide high-quality education and address barriers to learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"overview-of-the-mso-trial\">Overview\u00a0of the MSO Trial<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ier.tas.gov.au\/\">Independent Review of Education in Tasmania<\/a>&nbsp;found that Tasmania could&nbsp;benefit&nbsp;from&nbsp;trialling&nbsp;new ways of organising schools to enhance&nbsp;sharing&nbsp;of resources and services. It identified&nbsp;Multi-School Organisations as a way to&nbsp;do this.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schools will continue to keep their own identity and community connections. They will be closely supported to work towards the shared priorities of the MSO. Initially, students will see minimal day\u2011to\u2011day change. Any curriculum or teaching changes will be introduced gradually over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Tasmanian MSO Trial is evidence-based and is being independently evaluated. Continuous improvements will be made to ensure the model works in the Tasmanian context, for our schools and our communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McKinnon, an independent not-for-profit organisation, is partnering with the Department to deliver the MSO Trial. McKinnon is providing philanthropic funding and in-kind support to build expertise in the MSO model in Tasmania. Three MSOs will be established over the five-year Trial (2026 \u2013 2030). These MSOs will be based in the south, north and northwest, providing a statewide Trial of the model in Tasmania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find out more about the trial in the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicdocumentcentre.education.tas.gov.au\/library\/Shared%20Documents\/Tasmanian-Education-System-Reform-MSO-Fact-Sheet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tasmanian Education System Reform MSO Fact Sheet (PDF 436KB)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"our-first-three-msos\">Our first three MSOs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn about the establishment and progress of Tasmania&#8217;s first MSOs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h3 id=\"at-418721\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">MSO1<\/h3><div id=\"ac-418721\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MSO1 commenced in the south in term 1, 2026 with the following schools:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/moonahprimary.education.tas.edu.au\/\">Moonah Primary School<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/newtownprimary.education.tas.edu.au\/\">New Town Primary School<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/risdonvaleprimary.education.tas.edu.au\/contact\">Risdon Vale Primary School<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2027, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hobartcityhigh.education.tas.edu.au\/\">Hobart City High School<\/a> will join MSO1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2026 has been a foundational year for MSO1. Member schools have worked together to agree shared priorities and ways of working that that provide the foundation for alignment, decision-making and accountability as the MSO grows. During this time MSO1 has had a sharp focus on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>school improvement, curriculum and whole school routines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>building leadership capability, particularly among middle leaders, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>shared priorities, leadership roles and consistent ways of working.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what we are hearing about the experience for the principals involved in MSO1:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"block-emphasis block-emphasis--aqua\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re already seeing ourselves as a collective and talking about the students within the MSO rather than the students just within our individual schools.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"block-emphasis block-emphasis--aqua\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSupport from like-minded people has really energised our staff; relationships have started already.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"block-emphasis block-emphasis--aqua\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor us is middle leadership, we are now part of a team where there\u2019s somebody else that\u2019s doing a very similar role at another school and we can be back and forth having those conversations, actually meeting with each other and developing something that\u2019s better and stronger.\u201d For more information about MSO1, please contact <a href=\"mailto:MSO1@decyp.tas.gov.au\">MSO1@decyp.tas.gov.au<\/a><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information about MSO1, please contact <a href=\"mailto:MSO1@decyp.tas.gov.au\">MSO1@decyp.tas.gov.au<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h3 id=\"at-418722\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">MSO2<\/h3><div id=\"ac-418722\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MSO2 will commence in the north of the State in term 1 2027 with the following schools:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ravenswood Heights Primary School&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>St Leonards Primary School&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Youngtown&nbsp;Primary School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These schools are participating in a staged and supported onboarding period over July \u2013 December 2026. This includes a dedicated onboarding program for school leaders designed to build:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>shared understanding (eg MSO model, evidence-based education, individual contexts, shared priorities)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>relationships and ways of working<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>leadership capability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>implementation and change readiness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h3 id=\"at-418723\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">MSO3<\/h3><div id=\"ac-418723\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MSO3 will commence in 2028 in the north west. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process to select schools will be run in early 2027.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"school-groupings\">School groupings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Tasmanian Government is committed to improving student outcome <strong><em>for all students.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All Tasmanian schools not in an MSO are working together in a School Grouping. School Groupings are laying the foundations for full-system rollout of MSOs. They offer many similar benefits to an MSO but don\u2019t have the same structural and governance changes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each School Grouping is led by an experienced Executive Lead. Executive&nbsp;Leads line manage principals across School Groupings. This ensures cohesive, system aligned leadership that supports sustained improvement in every school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the system transitions to MSOs, School Groupings will ensure every school has access to the support it needs.
