{"id":44108,"date":"2025-01-13T09:43:30","date_gmt":"2025-01-12T22:43:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.decyp.tas.gov.au\/?page_id=44108"},"modified":"2026-05-29T12:11:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T02:11:22","slug":"lifting-literacy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/zh\/about-us\/strategies-and-frameworks\/lifting-literacy\/","title":{"rendered":"Lifting Literacy Implementation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"block-emphasis\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"key-information\">Key information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Lifting Literacy Implementation Plan aims to improve literacy rates in Tasmania.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Literacy Advisory Panel has released a report on literacy in Tasmania &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tas.gov.au\/literacy\/the-plan\/Final-Report-to-Government-Literacy-Advisory-Panel.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Plan &#8211; Final Report to Government: Lifting Literacy | Department of Premier and Cabinet.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The report presents recommendations and community-wide programs to improve literacy rates including two significant changes for Tasmanian schools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These actions will happen over three years between 2024 to 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lifting Literacy Advisory Panel presented its report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tas.gov.au\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0014\/330044\/Lifting-Literacy-3-year-Implementation-Plan.pdf\"><em>Final Report to Government: Lifting Literacy<\/em> [PDF, 5.3 MB]<\/a> to the Tasmanian Government in 2023. The report includes 23 priority recommendations that will be implemented. These recommendations include two significant changes for Tasmanian schools:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All schools adopt a consistent evidence-based approach to the teaching of reading based on the latest research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All schools adopt the Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework (MTSS), which is a tiered approach to intervention ensuring every student gets support when they need it.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-we-are-doing-to-improve-literacy\">What we are doing to improve literacy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is working to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Give children the best possible foundation for reading through our Early Years Programs and support to parents and carers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introduce a structured and evidence-based approach to teaching reading and supporting those who need extra help through our school system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide literacy support for adults and the community through our libraries and adult literacy service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"our-implementation-plan\">Our implementation plan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have a three-year Lifting Literacy Implementation Plan for 2024-2026. This Plan is guided by the Department of Premier and Cabinet&#8217;s (DPAC)&nbsp;three year whole-of-government implementation plan. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DECYP &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/publicdocumentcentre.education.tas.gov.au\/library\/Shared%20Documents\/Lifting-Literacy-Implementation-Plan-2024-2026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DECYP \u2013 Lifting Literacy Implementation Plan 2024 -2026 (2025 Update) (PDF, 2.5 MB)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DPAC &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tas.gov.au\/literacy\/the-plan\/Lifting-Literacy-3-year-Implementation-Plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lifting Literacy Implementation Plan 2024-2026 (PDF, 5.3 MB)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"reporting-and-monitoring-our-progress\">Reporting and monitoring our progress<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/learning\/literacy\/2025-progress-report\/\">Lifting Literacy Implementation Plan report on progress 2025<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/learning\/literacy\/2024-progress-report\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/learning\/literacy\/2024-progress-report\/\">Lifting Literacy Implementation Plan report on progress 2024<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Outcomes Monitoring Group was established by the Premier to provide independent oversight on the progress and outcomes of the Lifting Literacy community wide framework.
