{"id":43610,"date":"2026-10-15T12:47:25","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T01:47:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.decyp.tas.gov.au\/tdh-course\/first-year-teacher-specialised-learning-program\/"},"modified":"2026-10-15T12:47:26","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T01:47:26","slug":"first-year-teacher-induction-program","status":"publish","type":"tdh_course","link":"https:\/\/decyp.dev.ionata.com\/zh\/tdh-course\/first-year-teacher-induction-program\/","title":{"rendered":"First Year Teacher Induction Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"course-description\">Course description<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New teachers to the Department of Education and Young People (DECYP) will be inducted over an immersive three-day face-to-face program, in line with the Teachers Agreement 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants will have an opportunity to connect with other First Year and new teachers to DECYP and the wider DECYP community while building the knowledge, skills and professional networks needed for a successful transition into teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Subject matter experts will present relevant and timely sessions that will support a successful transition to the classroom, with topics including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Quality teaching and learning theories, strategies, and resources<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>State Service Code of Conduct and Behaviour Expectations for teachers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DECYP teaching and learning priorities, including \u2018Lifting Literacy\u2019 and \u2018Strengthening Numeracy\u2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing a positive and inclusive classroom culture<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DECYP\u2019s organisational structure and values<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practical strategies to prevent and respond to challenging behaviour and bullying, in line with DECYP policy and procedures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strategies to support staff wellbeing and an understanding of available supports<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting First Nation learners and knowledge of teaching for all, by promoting inclusion, equity, and excellence, and planning for differentiation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"course-outcomes\">Course outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Build a professional learning network with other First Year Teachers and the wider DECYP community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop knowledge and capabilities to support classroom readiness and the transition into school life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deepen knowledge and understanding of the Department for Education, Children and Young People<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand the support and resources available for our teachers and how to access them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"block-emphasis\">\n\t<div class=\"block-emphasis__inner\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you are having trouble enrolling in this session, please use the external enrolment form on the enrolment link above.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-436100\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Australian Profession Standards<\/h2><div id=\"ac-436100\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Standard 2 &#8211; Know content and how to teach it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Standard 3 &#8211; Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Standard 4 &#8211; Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Standard 7 &#8211; Engage professionally with colleagues, parents\/carers and the community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Compulsory First Year Teacher Induction Program for First Year Teachers who commence with DECYP in Term 1 2027.<\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":43611,"template":"","workstream":[122,130],"focus":[157],"location":[167,168,169],"mode":[175],"tdh_tag":[],"class_list":["post-43610","tdh_course","type-tdh_course","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","workstream-school-or-cflc","workstream-teachers","focus-curriculum-assessment-and-pedagogy","location-north","location-north-west","location-south","mode-in-person"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.8.1 -
