Literacy in the early years

The early years are important for a child’s development. Intentional literacy learning opportunities help young children develop the foundational language and communication skills they will need when they start school and throughout their lives.

Literacy in the school years

Children and young people in our schools are learning to read in structured and evidence-based ways – Starting with the foundational skills in primary school and working towards mastery of the literacy skills needed for school, work and life.
