Key information

  • As a DECYP employee, you must complete three compulsory modules each year:
  • For 2026, training must be completed by 27 February 2026.
  • If you return to work after leave or commence with DECYP after 27 February, you will have two weeks to complete the training.
  • Certificates are valid until 27 February 2027.

Advice for ‘contracted employees’

If your wages are paid outside of the employee Empower payment system, please complete the relief staff training package. For example, workers such as board members, school chaplains, Department of Health contracted staff, and recruitment agency staff should complete the relief staff training.

Access support

Talk to your manager if you need support to complete your Safeguarding training. Support might include access to a device or to internet.

For further advice you or your manager can contact safeguardingtraining@decyp.tas.gov.au.

Exemptions

To seek an exemption, you or your manager must contact the Office of Safeguarding Children and Young People on safeguardingtraining@decyp.tas.gov.au. The Office will also help you or your manager work out how to best receive the key messages in a way that supports your wellbeing.
