Training expectations

All DECYP relief staff employees must complete the following Safeguarding Training each year:

  • Mandatory Reporting Training
  • Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Training

You must also acknowledge that you have read and understood DECYP’s Conduct and Behaviour Policy and Conduct Standards.

The modules will provide you with practical information about how to safeguard children and young people. This includes when and how to report concerns and information about child abuse.

Once you have completed the training, you must provide your certificates to your DECYP contact officer or Manager. You must also provide them with any other pre-employment checks like Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).

Are relief staff paid to complete the training?

There is no separate ‘Safeguarding Training’ budget for relief staff to be paid.

Your workplace will follow their usual practices for staff undertaking training and payment of relief.
