At the gateway to Tasmania’s south-east, Sorell School delivers a unique, all-through learning experience that connects history, community and future-focused education. Established in 1821, Sorell School is the oldest continually operating public school in Australia and serves students from early learning through to Year 12, supporting families across the Sorell region and surrounding communities.

The school is guided by the values of Connection, Courage, Growth, Respect and Responsibility, which underpin a strong culture of belonging, high expectations and positive relationships. Teaching and learning are student-centred and inclusive, with an emphasis on high-quality practice, wellbeing and engagement at every stage of learning.

Sorell School offers a diverse range of curriculum and pathway opportunities, including Launching into Learning, the Child and Family Learning Centre, primary and secondary programs, and senior learning pathways that combine academic study with vocational options. Unique contexts such as the school farm and heritage village provide hands-on, real-world learning experiences that enrich student understanding.

Following significant redevelopment, Sorell School features contemporary learning spaces designed to support collaboration and innovation. Through strong partnerships with families, community organisations and industry, the school continues to honour its past while preparing learners for confident and capable futures.
